This is a student of mine, Eric Black, who won the Army youth concerto competition last year, the first tuba player to ever win. Aside from winning first place, the true grand prize was being able to perform the piece locally with the US Army Field Band while the band was on tour earlier this month in NC. I am proud to say Eric did a great job; this is what the true payoff of teaching is all about, watching your students succeed and grow. Over the past three years Eric has developed into a fine young musician and is on his way to bigger and better things. Sometimes in his lessons, he blows me away as I think to myself this kid is only a senior in HS.
Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!

I also have to mention it was great to see Scott Cameron after some 20 years and speak with others in the band, this was over all great night and if you have never seen the US Army Field band perform, you need to get out and do it, they are truely great.

Thanks for putting this here, Tom. I don't routinely visit the other TubeNet section and would have missed this.
Great job, Eric!

What a great performance by a young musician. His virbrato was also very mature for his age. Great job all around.
