It looks like you have to slap the pads with your hand to operate them. There's no indication of a system of keys. Maybe it was just too much trouble for M. Prospere to draw.

Anyway, nice to see a picture of a 6/4 GFO (Gran French Oph.).

GFO? nope...the manufacturer appartently was M. Jin, so this is a Jin BAO (Big A$$ Ophicleide.
