This is from the last page of Teil 2, Rolf Rudin's "Der Traum des Oenghus" that we're performing in our Lincoln Community Concert Band on March 27. Working on this and other similar passages in this piece has been a real challenge and eye opener.
This passage isn't that difficult. It's the utterly exposed pedal BBBb fundamental at 'pp' after 8 measures' rest to end Teil 1 that's going to seriously test our mettle.

Bump. The main word was response, or accuracy. . . Or whatever you want to call it. That fountains excerpt is a perfect example: playing loud and 'shifting' to the low register. I always find myself sacrificing resonance ( faking) the two sixteenth notes to get a nice, fat E1

I've noticed that I do different things in the low register when on Bb and C. Low E on a C tuba is a definite shift, same note on a Bb is more of a "focus".
