Re: Where'd you get your username?
When I joined this group a few years ago, I struggled a bit trying to come up with a
user name when in a fit of inspiration (or something), I decided since my tuba is a Mirafone 186
and that I like it quite a bit, that made me a fan of Mirafone, so here I am as
Mirafan, functional, neat, says a lot in a small space, etc. etc..............

Mine comes from one of my other avocations: building banjos. Seems to fit OK here as well.

Here is an obversation on usernames. The more juvenile the user (mentally or chronilogically) the more likely the user name will have "GOD", "BOSS" or "MAN" in it. As with everything in life, there are exceptions.

Ah, but Ray is a Texan which gives him special status as Texas has been a state of two different countries as well as it's own nation. Texans at different times in history could have been a citizen of 3 different nations - The United Mexican States or The United States of America or The Republic of Texas. Of course, many Texans still think they are living in the Republic of Texas.bloke wrote:You're just up to your usual trickery and antics.TubaRay wrote:I believe most people live in their home state. Texas - it's a "state" of mind.

Four, actually IIRC.... Texas was also part of the Confederacy during the War between the States.tofu wrote:[Texans at different times in history could have been a citizen of 3 different nations - The United Mexican States or The United States of America or The Republic of Texas. Re: Where'd you get your username?
Yes - Texas was the seventh and last state to secede even though governor Sam Houston opposed it. I believe he wanted to go the route of being a sovereign nation again and not join the Confederacy. They a had popular referendum and overwhelmingly voted to secede.Heavy_Metal wrote:Four, actually IIRC.... Whether you can count being a part of the confederacy as a nation I think depends. Lincoln and the US government never recognized secession - nor the Confederacy as a nation - so Texas never officially left the Union. OTOH, some might even argue that Texas at one point was part of two nations - the USA and the Confederacy. Texas has certainly had a remarkable and colorful history.

I am a Deputy Sheriff. My current rank is Sergeant. I have played the tuba for over forty years.
My handle is abbreviated, but self-explanatory otherwise.
