The M-W 25 is more of a large 4/4+ tuba - similar in size to the Mira 187. Not quite 5/4 in size.

If you look on the Meinl-Weston website, there are no model 20's to be found. Don't think those have been made in years.

Now, back to Yammy valve springs...

First of all, order a replacement set of Yamaha springs and see how you like them first... that,s what I did on my 661 and I was happy.

Tightening the springs didn't work very well.

When I had the starlight, it worked well.

+1 to Lee Stopher all around; and I'll try a few of those ideas myself!

I've only tried a few MW-25's before, and they were both complete turds (because they were in a state of disrepair). Never have gotten the chance to try a good one.

Aside -- I remember about 7 or 8 years ago seeing Baltimore Brass advertising a closeout on new MW 25's, for something like $4,000... "you'll never see this price again." How right they were! :)
