On Saturday, March 9th, at 2:00pm, the Chicago Brass Band will perform with internationally renowned trumpeter Rex Richardson at the 2013 Chicago Brass Festival at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) in Chicago. Tickets purchased through the Chicago Brass Band are only $10 and are valid for ALL SATURDAY EVENTS at the 2013 Chicago Brass Festival - which includes Oystein Baadsvik soloing with the NEIU Wind Ensemble later in the evening. Virtuoso trumpet soloist Rex Richardson -- veteran of the acclaimed chamber group Rhythm & Brass, the Brass Band of Battle Creek, and jazz legend Joe Henderson's Sextet -- will perform "Rextreme", a concerto composed specifically for Rex by Lake Forest, IL native James M. Stephenson. This will be the North American premiere of the brass band arrangement of "Rextreme". Additionally, the band will debut Martin Ellerby's "Elgar Variations", one of the works it will be playing at the North American Brass Band championships in Cincinnati this April, along with some lighter fare.

Attendees who purchase tickets through the Chicago Brass Band will be eligible to buy special $5.00 tickets from the NEIU box office for the festival-opening concert by the Boston Brass, Friday, March 8th, at 8:00pm. Details on how to redeem this discount for the Boston Brass concert will be included upon completing the purchase of tickets to the Chicago Brass Band's concert.
