Fun "new" book, published 1978

I've been having a great time playing out of this book lately. Big horn or small, F and Eb and BBb. It's a challenge to play the same things on all 3 keys in succession, when it was basically sightread the first time.

Most of the marked tempos (yes, tempi, but who cares?) are pretty fast for sightreading, at least for me and esp on Eb. They fall pretty well under all the fingers, though, thanks to keen recognition of scales and arpeggios.

Is it worth buying for an Intermediate player?

Play the etudes slower than written, and sure. It will challenge you, but not to extremes. Range is essentially A below the staff to C above. Lots of leaps, but very chordal with lots of modulations. It's also good for practice "making music".

Is it worth buying for an Intermediate player?

Yes. These are not beginner etudes; but should be fine for an intermediate level player, especially at tempos slower than marked.
