Live chat feature on TubeNet?

Post by WoodSheddin »

Wondering if people here would use a Live chat feature if it were added here? Most of the live banter would probably end up catering to the Off Topic TubeNet junkies but there could also occasionally be live guest speakers as legistics allowed.

This is the software http://www.123flashchat.com/ .

Thinking about reinvesting some surplus TubeNet advertising dollars back into the website but wanna make sure the feature will actually get used enough to justify the expense.

Live chat.....no*
Instant messaging....yes

*I need to ammend my 1st statement....I thought you meant live "voice" chat. Live chat is great in the form you have now. I just found it today and I like the format.

The uploading could be anonymous (for the "shy" guys), but critiques would not be (to promote civility).
Ya gave me some ideas. Give me some time on this one.

BTW, I have now added a demo of a realtime chat server. Click the word Chat between FAQ and Search near the top right to open up the chat application.

I believe we can have high profile guests from time to time stop by and answer questions in realtime similiar to what AOL does.

I think the above idea is very good, and hope it is possible.

Another thought for your consideration:

Stumbled across the Euphonium Audition Primer (http://dwerden.com/audition/index.cfm) put together by Neal Corwell and David Werden.

Of particular interest was the Audition Strategies section (http://dwerden.com/audition/strategies.html) where euph excerpts were shown and comments from Mr Corwell and Mr Werden were included.

Any chance some of the Washington-based Tubenet tubists could put together something similar for tuba band excerpts that are commonly asked on auditions? Host it here on Tubenet. Might be useful to those preparing auditions.

Love the feature. But girls are into the live chat anyway. Everywhere I post, it is really popular.

I was telling Sean that maybe we could hold live chat sessions with pros (if they are willing) to do an answer/question hour once a month or so.

I think that will be very beneficial!

I haven't yet tried the chat room feature, but it occurs to me that it would be interesting to talk with Mr. TubeNet himself, Sean. He doesn't go around bragging about himself, but he certainly has something to offer. After all, he resides behind an Arban's book.

Can you invite someone currently on Tubenet without an email or private message? Maybe like an alert or something that informs you of an invitation to chat?
