I wanted to share my experience with The Instrument Doc in Charleston, S.C. owned by Chris Bluemel. I normally do not post on here but I think the Tubenet community needs to know about the Instument Doc. First I would like to say I am very picky with who works on my instruments. I typically go to Matt Walters who does amazing work. I have been to the Instrument Doc twice and both times I have been blown away by their amazing knowledge and skill. Chris Bluemel is very helpful and goes far and above to give great service. In addition to that he will answer questions about your instrument and repairs that you may have. He has also written a very informative book on brass repair. Matt Walters also commented that their work was very good and they did all the right things when he has worked on my horns after Chris and his staff worked on my horns. If you are in the south and looking for someone to do fantastic work see Chris at the Instrument Doc. If you are in the Northeast see Matt at Dillon. Chris is also a fine tuba player which I think adds to his skill as a repair person.
If you have questions please do not hesitate to get in touch. I can't say enough good things about both these guys!
Sincerely
Richard Serpa
