Tuba mouthpiece advice

Post by Eflatdoubler »

I had been playing a G&W kronos on my Conn 3J, and recently switched to an E-flat tuba- a Gemeinhardt J-345SP.
I have experimented with over a dozen different mouthpieces (kelly 18, Kelly 24AW, Benge 24AW, Faxx 24AW, Bach 25C, Yamaha 67C4, Bach 18, G&W kronos, Perentucci 65 , Conn Helleberg, Conn Helleberg 7B, perentucci 65 and a Barth helleberg copy (I believe).

I like the sound of the Perentucci, but love the feel of the smaller and flatter rim of the kronos (or conn 7b). Does anyone recommend another Perentucci model that is a flat rim with sharp inner edges and close to the 65 (or smaller), or another brand/model?
I have emailed Bloke, and am considering a Solo cup, now I have to figure out which rim (thank you bloke for your email!).
I just thought I would stir the pot. I certainly don't mind testing out mouthpieces (as you can see by my list) just looking for some direction. The Kelly 24AW feels great but doesn't quite stand up to the resonance of the Perentucci. This tuba is a pitch sensitive, but of the mouthpieces I have listed- the Perentucci 65 has been the best sounding and closest in pitch.
Thank you
