Has the Denis Wick "Classic" made a comeback?
I was under the impression that Wick had completely dropped their old traditional tuba mouthpiece shape quite some time back, and replaced it with the odd-shaped "Heritage" line. Wick are now advertising a range of "Classic" pieces, which look to me identical to the old beloved original shape, but with some updated engraving. When did this happen?

Last time I was shopping for a mouthpiece (only a few years ago) Wick were selling the silver-only version of the Heritage as the "Classic".cktuba wrote:It's my understanding that they never stopped making the "Classic" style mouthpieces.
The pictures of the Classic that I just looked at on their website look a lot like what I bought in the eighties, so they must have gone back to the old design.

I much prefer the shape and style of my old Wicks. I find the old Wick 2 to be a very versatile mouthpiece for many different types of horns. I'm glad to find out they are available again.

Mouthpiece Express inform me that all their DW tuba stock is of the newer Heritage shape, but the boxes are labeled "Classic".

I believe that's how it was with my 2L - the Heritage style was a surprise inside the box. Not really a welcome surprise, either. I doubt it makes a difference to the sound, but it isn't very good looking in my opinion. (I have some idea why I don't like the sound, having to do with an interior profile that coincidentally somewhat parallels the outer.)
