Raw Brass and Lacquering
Apologies if this has been done to death before - if so can someone point me inthe right direction. I've just spent 5 hours polishing a 1950's sousa bell - which has transformed from dirty brown to gleaming brass - transformation. What can I use to seal this finish so that I don't have to do this all again!
Composers shouldn't think too much -- it interferes with their plagiarism.

I don't disagree with anything 
that guy above said. 
I have had reasonable success using McQuires Professional Clearcoat automobile wax on my raw brass 185. However it won't slow it down forever. I don't mind it turning an even brown patina but it has had some work recently so I polished it out. Another thing you can do to slow down the transformation is when not in use put the bell in a heavy duty plastic garbage bag. But if you want shiny for a long time have it professionally sprayed. if you don't paint on a regular basis it will be hard to get it right. And the pro job will be reasonable compared to buying all the stuff to do it yourself.
