Neotek harness - Slipping issue

Lately I have been doing a fair number of standing gigs, and my Neotek harness, while nice, slowly slips and lowers my horn over time while I am performing. Over the course of an hour set, I find myself trying to readjust the thing multiple times. Anyone have any solutions? Should I try to safety pin together the straps where I don't want them to move?

I've tried the neotech and could never seem to get it satisfactorily adjusted.

I found the Neotech thoroughly unusable and sent it back.I then bought a MW harness and it works just fine and is reliable every time. The only problem I had with it is that the plastic clips which hold it up to the face sometimes get stuck in the narrow ring on my 186.

Interesting and thanks for the input. After hearing rave reviews about the neo-tek, I am intrigued that I didn't pay more attention to comments like these above. I am glad the neo-tek was fairly cheap. I intend to try to modify it to make a little more sturdy. The Mnozil belt does look pretty decent for my purposes. I just don't need to spend $$$ on it.

May not be an option for you depending on measurements and hoist points, but I have successfully used a Neotech saxophone harness with a tuba with good results. Never slipped once.

This thread made me reluctant to get one, and today I finally have one. The "regular length" Neotech tuba harness, on a PT10, works well with 6'2" operator. I will pass on trying this with a larger instrument owing to operator limitations.

If the harness is simply sliding, rotating, so that the tuba winds up in a lower position, why not install a strap between the back clips that goes under your belt at the rear? That should keep it from slipping.

In Bay Street, we play almost all of our shows standing up. I have a Neotech harness, and it has never worked for me.

For those who might want a good "cheap" option- I use two luggage straps connected together, combined with a metal ring and latch that can be found at hardware stores. After some time you may have to adjust the strap position a bit for comfort, but there's never any slipping of the strap itself that would affect the horn level. You just have to figure out the "topology" of the wrap so that it's flat against your body.

Only problem is that it's a total pain if the strap gets tangled up, turns into a mind puzzle to reset it. But I guess you get what you pay for. I found those straps for $4 each, and the hardware is only a few bucks. I had planned to only use this for a few months until I bought a "real" harness, but it ended up working out well and has lasted me for over 7 years. It's even strong enough to hold the weight of my Fafner...when I'm crazy enough to play it standing up!

Ben, I solved the problem with my Neotech harness: I tightly attach the harness to the tuba with two tie-wrapps. I use the same harness for my Besson EEb 981 and my Alex 163 BBb!

I used a neo-tek bari-sax strap for my horn.. It worked great .. and even better when i had the ring moved to a better place on the body of my horn. ( On the bottom bell section)

Agreed! Id like to see this. Recently I have been using a luggage strap over my left shoulder. My left bicep gets very sore after a set, but the horn doesn't slip.
