That looked like great fun. Going through the slideshow on your link two things struck me.

One - I had no idea Pete Fountain was still alive - how great is that - he looked good.

The second - why in the heck was stupid Hall and Oates there??? Everybody else looked like real musicians.

Jazz Fest always has "Ringers" - some well known act(s) that most nobody really can figure out why they are there. I think it may be more for the locals who see the local big name acts all year, so the festival brings in Hall & Oats or Steely Dan kind of performers to satisfy them. In 2012 it was The Eagles; 2011 Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp and Kid Rock...

Yah, it's not to worry... the "local" vibe is still there. I played there a few years ago with the New Orleans Klezmer Allstars and our set was literally simultaneous with both huge headliners Bon Jovi and Kings of Leon, but our area was still completely packed with thousands of people and the crowd was amazing. JazzFest is such an incredible event...

Not sure - I do know Bob Stewart usually plays a Yamaha 621 (in C, as I recall.)

It's a beautiful old HN White Eb. It originally only had 3 valves, but Earl had a 4th installed (one that Don Butterfield had had cut off of one of his instruments).

It's a beautiful old HN White Eb. It originally only had 3 valves, but Earl had a 4th installed (one that Don Butterfield had had cut off of one of his instruments).
