Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves?

Post by scottw »

Our music director heard an arrangement of the main theme by the Cinncinnati Pops under Kunzel and was quite taken with it. Michael Kamen is the composer. He would like to do it with our large brass ensemble. To your knowledge, has it been done as a brass band piece? That would be easily adaptable to our ensemble with some clef changes. Failing that, maybe a band or orchestra one? The only one we have found published is POP. Cinn. Pops will not lend their arrangements.
This is from the '90's, so someone, somewhere ought to still have it--why not Tubenet?
Thanks!

Yes, this has been done as a brass band piece.

A quick search revealed you can buy the brass band version here: http://www.justmusicuk.com/publications/details/JM33032

Thanks, Tom. I am not at all familiar with brass band music or the sites which sell it, so this is a big help. I can't get the sample to appear, though, it just loads and loads.
Any other arrangements you may know of?

That is the only arrangement I am aware of. I have heard it performed before but did not play it. I thought it was well done.

I can't get the sample to load either.

I got it to load but it is a .pdf file which Sean won't allow. The file cannot be translated to .jpg or .doc either. Sorry.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

Our Community Concert Band performed this version Monday evening as our last number. It's an excellent score and the arrangement suited our large group nicely. Many compliments afterwards. Be aware that this version is 'Out of Print', but copies may still be available. Search Google for 'robin hood prince of thieves michael kamen arr jay bocook' to view some YouTube performances of this arrangement.
