Kind of a trick question for me because I use a larger Eb for just about everything.

Gnagey York CC for most stuff
822F for some recital stuff (raw brass, handmade, AGR etc...)
They compliment each other very well, sound wise.

I've always used (and loved!) either a small Eb or a large bass trombone. That's still my preference but we have a large piston F now that I'll be using.

I think Eb-tubas in general are perfect quintet tubas.

For a while I was using my 983 most of the time in quintet, but a few trips through My Spirit Be Joyful got me back to CC. Now I use my 184 most of the time.

Alexander 163 CC, Bach 7 mouthpiece
Meinl Weston 32 CC, Bach 7 mouthpiece
It depends on the music, the quintet, etc...

Most of the time in brass quintet, I'll use my 4/4 Nirschl CC.
For pieces such as the Bozza Sonatine or for brass quartets, I'll use my 983 Eb tuba.

B&S F tuba for me, sometimes the Yamaha 621 F. But my quintet mates are amateurs, and playing a big tuba would bury them. If they made a really big sound, I could get away with something bigger, but I'd probably still mostly use the big F. Watever I lose in low-note sound I gain in high-note security, and in and above the staff I find it easier to get a singing sound that works with quintet, rather than the foundational tone that I want for a big ensemble.

I use a Miraphone 188 for my quintet. We have pretty strong players at all the other positions and the Miraphone has the perfect sound for the ensemble. I'll try to upload some sample files.

(I have done it on CC and F, and found it better on CC, jut not the big'uns.)
