There is a new guest article on my website, written by recording engineer John Johnson. He wrote some memories of Robert Hoe V. Bob Hoe was a good friend of band music and was an amateur euphonium player. He financed the historic "Heritage of the March" series of LP's as well as the Arthur Lehman recordings. Check it out:

Few men have spent more of their personal $$ for the benefit of band music enthusiasts than Hoe. It's interesting reading.

I can tell you first-hand that the Bob Hoe "Heritage of the March" collection is a an absolute treasure trove of music.

The "In Memorium" album that the Coast Guard Band did was an excellent recording. If memory serves me correctly, there were great performances of the Wagner transcription "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral" (from Lohengrin) and Roger Nixon's original band composition "Pacific Celebration Suite". Great concert band recording.

During my years at Michigan State University (late 1970's) we recorded a few Heritage of the March albums under the direction of Ken Bloomquist. I also corresponded with Bob to obtain the Art of the Euphonium Playing by Art Lehman and recall having to provide a letter stating my euphonium background. Mr. Hoe was super enthusiastic and somewhere I have the letter he sent in response.
