Good thing you didn't drive all the way to Plains on that crooked narrow road to see the Carter Museum, 'cause it's in Atlanta.

My wife started flying on Northwest (now Delta) in college, so that's where her miles are... and where mine are too. Prices are usually about the same, so we choose Delta for that. Otherwise, we just go with the cheapest available, except for Spirit. Their rates are super cheap because they charge you additional fees for everything. Their customer service is supposed to be crappy too.

I was worried about my Delta miles but I have to say, AMEX's customer service is amazing and I was able to work with a few great folks at Delta who found my old NWA miles and got everything straightened out for me.
