This is on behalf of a good friend.I am attaching his e-mail to explain it better than I could. If anyone can help, I would be most grateful. And rest assured Rick is completely reliable and responsible. Thanks!

*******Re-edit*****He is at the Best Western, Merry Manor Inn on Route 1 at the east end of the "Maine Turnpike Approach". I have his cell # if anyone could get the horn to him by 6:45pm prior to the banquet.Looks like it isn't going to happen.********

Hello Scott-
Do you know anyone in the Portland, Maine area who has a BB-flat tuba that I might be able to borrow or rent, TODAY, Saturday, June 15?
I'm in the final two days (Sat/Sun) of an every-other year reunion of everyone who served on the polar icebreaker I served on in the Coast Guard in the late 60s. Our "Fearless Leader" for the last 20 years has been struck-down by cancer and is in pretty rough shape and restricted to hospice care in South Carolina. Yesterday, one of our number who plays tenor sax and who has been extremely supportive of my recent return to the community band scene asked me if I'd brought my horn? We have a "Crossing the Bar" ceremony that we do each time we get together to honor those who the Lord has called home in the previous two years, and he was hoping I might join him in a verse or two of Amazing Grace and Nearer My God to Thee. Of course, I had to tell him that, without a specific invitation, there would be no reason for me to add something that big to my travel load. But, then I got to thinking, "In a town as large as Portland, Maine, I'll bet I could find ONE BB-flat tuba that I could borrow or rent for the day."
This is the first inquiry on that search.
I'm hoping that, even on a Saturday morning, your daily routine includes a check of your email, and that you know someone I might call. If not, "No worries", but I'm hoping that you at least run across this note in time for me to take action if your response is in the affirmative.
Thanks, in advance, for a reply, regardless of what it might be.
Rick Webber

Contact one of the local band directors and see if he can lend you a school instrument.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

Thanks, Roger. I think because it came up so fast, my friend had no chance to arrange anything. He knows I have a lot of resources available, so he contacted me. He also is handicapped by the fact he is confined to an electric wheelchair, so mobility is always a problem for him. He is tough, but little things are not so little!
