Forced to do all the dirty work for the band, plays one note the entire song and has an...interesting taste in 'reading' material.

Re: Tuba Players...
I've watch quite a few of these and have not seen the tuba player using a harness to hold his horn. Am I missing something?

Re: Tuba Players...
I'm guessing the older tuba is a custom job. Any idea what the newer one is?

Re: Tuba Players...
I believe I have seen a belt-like affair that hooks onto the horn at the player's waist. The weight is then centered around the hips. With him playing the 6-valve, both hands have to be on the horn anyway, so stability at the mouthpiece should be easy. I don't know who makes this rig.TubaTinker wrote:I've watch quite a few of these and have not seen the tuba player using a harness to hold his horn. Am I missing something?

Here's the belt...

...and I believe Mr. Brandstötter is playing a Meinl-Weston (Melton) 2250 RA. I think before it was a horn made by Schagerl in Vienna.

In this thread Mr Brandstrotter shows off the Melton F tuba that he helped to design.
The most interesting parts for me was the positioning of the 4 and 5 valve and that they started with an Eb tuba.
