Jupiter Eb?

I've been hearing rumors for the past several months that Jupiter is developing an Eb in collaboration with a famous soloist. Does anybody know any details (or rumors, for that matter)?

From what I have heard from reliable sources is that the prototype has been finished and that he is now using that as his main horn while they do the final tweaks on the production horn. Not sure where everything is as of now as my information is about 4 months old, but this information came from someone who had seen him play this prototype and had many discussions with him about it. But as we all know rumors are still only rumors until the real facts come out

Isn’t it a Besson 983 that Pat Sheridan is sitting with in that photo?

The Jupiter 3+1 Eb tuba referred to above here is not compensating. I like the 3+1 set-up for ergonomic reasons, but unless there are one or two triggers (main and 3rd), there are no ways to adjust pitch on the fly (aside of lipping).

I heard this Jupiter Eb that Pat Sheridan has is a copy of the Besson 983 with a couple of small modifications. I heard this from someone at ASU at the time.

The photo is of an insufficient resolution for me to tell whether it has compensating loops, but the wrapping of the larger loops is quite similar to that of the Besson 983.

Pat has been playing a multi-colored lacquer finished Jupiter Eb for a few years now. I haven't seen any others anything like it, even with normal finish.

Jupiter does now have a Eb non-comp 3+1, .689 bore, 15-inch bell tuba designed primarily for the UK student-to-intermediate brass band market:

Well, this post is nearly 4 years old, and there's nothing on the Jupiter web site and nothing particular in the rumor mill. I think we can safely assume that it's dead in the water.

No, it is alive and well. It's just not marketed in the US. It is primarily for the UK student to intermediate brass band market. My link is a current link if you'd like to purchase one.

This was really about the compensating 4-front valve horn that Sheridan was developing with Jupiter as a replacement for the 983, not the student instrument. Thanks, though for the info on the student horn.

Yes, the other Chinese vendors do the Sov copy Eb.
