Info about DW rim

Post by dantetuba »

Hello,

I know that have a great difference between the Classic Style and Heritage Denis Wick's model but my doubt is:
Is there difference of the rims?
I try a Heritage model: 2SL I know that rim is semi-flat but the classic model have the same heritage's rim?

Thanks for help

I have played both the old style 1 and the new style 1. The difference is in the outside: the older style looks more like a funnel on the outside with more metal under the rim and less at the throat; and the newer model looks more like a "traditional" mouthpiece with less metal under the rim and more metal around the throat. The actual rim, cup, throat and backbore geometry is the same.

I much prefer and use the original style. The difference (other than the cosmetic) are enough to make a difference in how it works and sounds for me. Enough other people must have felt the same for them to have brought it back in production.
