Why is Music So Important Anyway?

Post by tubapress »

We live in a society where art and music often get dismissed as "nice to haves" and "extras". Here then is a brilliant explanation by Karl Paulnack at the Boston Conservatory pinpointing why music is so truly essential to our lives. Have a read and see if this doesn't move you even though we of the Tubent already understand the criticality:

Well put, and echoing the arguments (though much more lucidly) that I give my wife (flute prof) when she dispairs that she's "not making any significant contribution" to life...
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Thanks, I needed that.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.
