Lessons

Post by Cnidarian »

Hi all,

I'm getting back into tuba playing after a 5 year break and am looking for private lessons in the Greater Dayton/Cincinnati area. It was suggested that some of you folks might be able to help me in my search.

Shout out to TubaTinker who encouraged me to stop lurking and actually post on TubeNet. I was able to enjoy a visit out to his shop and given a chance to play some great instruments. His Conn Jumbo is quite the horn!

I'm afraid I can't help you with a suggestion for a lesson teacher. I can, however, welcome you back to the tuba world, and to TubeNet.

You should email Tim Northcut from the U of Cincinnati. He would be able to lead you in the right direction and probably has a student that can get you goin.

Good luck!

Hello Cnidarian,

I'm one of Tim Northcut's graduate students at CCM. I'm always interested in looking for more students. Send me an email at tubanerd AT live DOT com.

I am in the Cincinnati area. I took a few lessons earlier this year from Carson McTeer of the CSO. I got a lot out of them and would still be doing so but my schedules doesn't mesh well with his. I highly recommend you take at least a couple of lesson with him. You can find him and contact him here on Tubenet.

I haven't met Tim Olt yet but I've heard a lot of good things about him from people who know him. I've been thinking about calling him myself when my calendar is a little less full.

Good luck! Maybe we'll run into each other some time!
