congrats. you have shown the potential to really make something of yourself. Now you've got to pick an environment that suits you and where you think you'll be happy. I've been a member of both studios, and the artistic level is impossible to discriminate. They are both ideal places to study music and tuba playing. If you don't have an impression of the studios/ schools/ towns already, you should take the time to spend a few days in each place, talking to the students, listening to the ensembles, walking around the halls and enjoying the two remarkable, though different, towns.

This is a big decision, and one that should be followed up with the maximum effort and diligence. Take the time to figure this one out for yourself. You will be greatly challenged at either school, personally and professionally.

Since I know a thing or two about Big Ten country, I can say that whichever school you go to, it will be a pleasant experience either in Bloomington or Ann Arbor. Great college atmospheres.

I do have one question for you. Do you plan to be in the marching band for whichever school you go to?

Will you be studying with Kaenzig or Perantoni right from the start? I've heard that at big schools like Indiana you may find yourself taking lessons with a GA. I'm told that anyone in the studio at U of M studies with Kaenzig, though.
