Hans Mueller was a house brand sold by Custom Music. Some were made by B & S. I don't think this one was made in Germany by B & S. The seller claims this is the same tuba as the Sanders 'Imperial'... which was a copy of the B & S/VMI 101 tuba.

Most of these horns I've seen are pretty good players.

I asked the seller what country this tuba was made, here is his response:
"This tuba was made by Custom Music Company in Detroit, MI, USA."
Apparently this is American made tuba!

Also resembles a Miraphone 186..... at some recent performances I was asked if my Sonora was a Miraphone. Nope, sorry........

+1. But... I wasn't going to start THAT discussion again. One of the earlier posts alluded to the horn "being like a Sanders 'Imperial'".... which were produced in Asia for Custom Music.

Custom did a pretty good job of monitoring the quality. From the ones I've seen... these weren't bad horns at all.

As has been said earlier, if that horn was made in China, they've done a great job of duplicating all the little B&S details.

As has been said earlier, if that horn was made in China, they've done a great job of duplicating all the little B&S details.

Nowhere does it say "made by B & S". The exact words from the Custom Music website are "B&S Manufacturing & Quality".

Like I mentioned before... Custom Music seems to have taken a keen interest in keeping the quality of their 'stencils' good... regardless of where they are/were manufactured.

Have to admit, it does look pretty similar to my Sonora. As was said already, if it's a Chinese horn they really got some of the little details down pat.
