NEW Wessex Cimbasso!!!

Post by Wyvern »

I am excited to announce the new Wessex exclusive cimbasso which we expect to be available in UK and USA from October/November 2013.

The cimbasso is pitched in F with 5 rotary valves of 18.5mm bore and triggers on both 2nd and 5th valve slides.

Having test played the prototype including with orchestra - it plays superb, easy blowing, characteristic tone and good tuning.

An instrument repairer who moved thumb rest on prototype commented how well made it is with more rigidly bracing than on some expensive brands.

The cimbasso is supplied with foambody case strong enough for flying, fitted with wheels - and with suitable shallow cup tuba mouthpiece.

Available with yellow brass, or rose brass bell and in lacquer, or silver-plated finish.

This is at last a cimbasso every orchestral tuba player can justify buying. It is great fun to play and after trying, any Italian music played with tuba will no longer seem right. It just sounds so right on cimbasso.

It would also work great to provide tonal variation in recital and played without attack is good substitute for muted tuba (with much better tone).

USA Prices
Lacquer $3,450
Rose brass bell $3,550
Silver-plated $3,750
SPECIAL OFFER $250 off for pre-orders (with $1,000 deposit) before end September 2013

I forgot to mention, the new cimbasso is in our UK showroom available to try now.

It will also be exhibited at National Brass Band Championships, Cheltenham on 21/22 September (together with the new BBb Mighty Midget travel tuba and 'Solo' Eb tuba)

A number of people have taken up our pre-release reduced price for the cimbasso, but to give a chance to more, I have decided to extend the discount for pre-orders with deposit until December 1st.

The F cimbasso will be available shortly after that and the offer will really end. So this is your last chance to get at bargain price.

The cimbasso has attracted quite a lot of interest (and some orders) from professional players. I have one London professional currently trying out the prototype with orchestra and will try to incorporate any improvements he suggests.

For those that would prefer Eb version, I am planning to have that available next year too.
