Tubenet Advertiser banner ads that are a little to active

Sean, is it appropriate to ask your advertisers not to use Macromedia Flash content in their banner ads? I was just asked to load a Flash player (that I don't want on my work computer) by the TubaMM banner ad, after a lengthy download process. The animation is annoying enough, but I look at Tubenet at the office and just don't need banner ads playing multimedia to me.

And while I'm complaining, I know that the ads on the right come from Google, but I really wish that the "IMhosted" banner ad would load more quickly. That ad requires 20 or 30 full seconds to download over a dialup, and for some reason my browsers won't cache the images (which never changes). They must have a big ad budget, because they seem to be the ad of choice about 80% of the time.

I'm not arguing against the ads--I know you need them to support Tubenet and that's completely fair.

I actually encouraged Flash banners. I think those are a personal choice.

As far as the Google Ads go I can probably do something about the full sized graphic ads since I doebt anyone here clicks them anyways.

Yes, it's a personal choice, but it's a choice my browser asks me to make EVERY TIME that banner ad comes up. I've already said, No, I don't want to download Macromedia Flash Player about 12 times since I posted my request, just in the last 20 minutes or so. The advertiser is imposing his choice on me, and for me it's not a choice. Don't forget all the varied ways that people view the forum, some of which are incompatible with high-content media.

This one ad seems to be the only one that has brought up this issue.

Edit: I went and talked with my IT guy, and he said it was okay to install the Flash player. He agreed with me, though. Fortunately, he's cool, if you know what I mean. I don't know what the Flash does that I wasn't getting without it, though. The banner ad looks the same. I had to turn the sound down, though--sound at the office is a no-no.

I was just coming here to post about this constant pop-up I'm getting... "Do you want to install Macromedia Flash"? Then I saw this post.

I keep saying NO to the flash! It's getting to the point that it takes 3 times longer to load a page (and I'm on DSL). I've got most banners blocked anyway. Not sure why this keeps popping up. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I have that plugin installed. Don't want another one.
