Best Burger that goes with Tuba / Euph playing

Post by Matt Walters »

After a good session playing my tuba, I loves me a good hamburger. It’s about time we have some TubeNet fun again. So tell us the hamburger that goes best with playing your tuba or Euphonium
Give us the Brand and Burger name (if one of your own creations it has to also have a name) followed by the Toppings etc. to make that burger.
My favorite so far is:
A-1 Blue Burger from 25 Burgers http://www.25burgers.com" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank
From the 25burgers.com website it says, “Blue Cheese crumbles, A-1 Steak sauce, Crispy Onion Straws, Lettuce, Tomato, and Chipotle Mayo on a Fresh Baked Miami Onion Roll”

NO,NO, NO!!!!

With all due respect, and for you, Matt, I sincerely have a lot of respect: a burger just DOES NOT CUT IT!!!!

PIZZA and BEER is the only way to go!!!!!!!!!!

Heck, OVER 40 years ago we proved that point in Harvey's basement outside Boston. Just ask Dave Gannet. He has to be the World Champion at inhaling a BIG piece of pizza and a beer and not missing a note.

Burgers are for stoking up BEFORE playing.

I loves me a burger. Best is a tough thing, but all I can think of right now is the Max & Erma's garbage burger... Oh sometimes I miss the midwest. There is something magical about marinara, guac, bacon, onion rings, and a bunch o' cheezes.

There are several local small pubs that have a 1/2 pound burger that is wonderful with blue cheese and "the works". The big box brands tend to have the a think dry burger that is onion flavored just to give it flavor. These are only suited for mass consumption of fat.

Pantry and Pub (a sponsor of our marching band) gets a lot of after rehearsal business from us. My favorites:

The Bronco Billy Burger (pepperjack cheese, bbq sauce, onion ring, and the burger) followed closely by:
The Mushroom and Swiss Plus (sauteed mushrooms, swiss cheese, avocado and bacon)

Washed down with one of the six rotating micro brews on tap, or one of the 100 bottled varieties. Current favorites are the Claim 52 Amber, Ninkasi Oatis, Oakshire Ill-tempered Gnome and Hop Valley Double D Blonde.

I know you guys are all gonna poo-poo me suggesting a good burger from a chain, but Red Robin was a standard after-gig spot for me for a few years, and the Banzai Burger is pretty damned good.

-ground beef
-sharp cheddar
-grilled pineapple
-mayo
-lettuce

I started making them at home and if the RR version is good, making at home on my grill to my specs is heaven, baby.

Josh,
I have never eaten at a Red Robin. I don't know where my closest one is but when on a road trip one comes up a lunch time, I'm stopping. I have eaten a yummy burger from White Rose as Ken suggested.

Wednesday nights rehearsal is my regular night not to eat at home I am a sucker for a McRib when they are available or a fish and chips snack box with smoked cod and fresh cod pieces.
Cant carry a tune but I can carry a tuba.

Bratwurst burgers are amazing to pair with tuba-ing, (essentially a bacon cheese burger topped with a sliced-in-half brat) But Buffalo Wild Wings is out band's official post-gig location.

I love me a good burger, cheddar and bacon keeping it simple, but I've gotta agree with Mark here. Wings and beer are the best way to go. We usually hit BWW's after Monday night rehearsals and then one of the local pubs near the concert sights after the actual gig.

Matt, you need to come back to Great Falls and try the burgers at The Family Affair. I guarantee you will love them.
