Something like an anniversary should NOT be included in this trivial thread--that's my ruling fwiw!
Congratulations!

It will only be a success when you have eaten them. Looking at them and taking pictures doesn't count as success when it comes to sweet potatoes, and I do love me some sweet potatoes. Had some last night although I must admit I didn't grow them myself. Let me know how they taste.

We didn't intend to grow sweet potatoes but Terri likes to put out a few pots because the vines are so pretty along with the tropicals on the deck. This one was in a 12" pot!bloke wrote:We planted a handful of sweet potato plants last summer. We did not know how they would do in hard clay soil (though we did doctor the soil a bit). I don't believe this will win any prizes, but - having dug them up just this evening - I suppose I could label this a "success"...??

A blonde was driven to distraction (short drive) by a bird that sang loudly by her window every morning. She finally decided to kill it and caught it. To kill it she climbed to the top of a very tall building and dropped it.

Re: Update Update
Even after setting all time rainfall records in September, Eugene, OR finished the water year down 50% of average for rainfall. October was also 50% of average. We also haven't had a really cold winter for several years, although we have had some very cool early (2009) and late (2011) heavy snowfalls. Wonky.

I get to leave in 5 minutes to go play a rather nice program. "Italian in Algiers Overture" "Fountains" and "Capriccio Italien". I will enjoy it immensely although there is some serious **** that is giving me fits about noon in the Respighi.

Re: Update Update
A middle school girl and her dad dropped by the shop this afternoon to see if I could provide some parts that she thought were missing from a horn she purchased at a rummage sale. Turns out what she thought was a clarinet is actually a Selmer oboe! It needs a little attention but not bad at all for an initial investment of $7.50!

Half an hour of hand polishing yeilds better results than those half-assed insta-shine sponges.

Terrific stuff, well worth a try. $15. worth will last a long time. We use it to polish uniform buttons, brass shoulder scales, and antique horns and it's the best we have found. No rinsing/neutralizing, just wipe it off with a clean rag. It protects for quite a while, too.
