What do you think of the Kanstul CTU 900/4B. They are made in Cal. Does anyone know how they play? What is the Quality Generally?

I don't know what that model is. Tuba? Euphonium?

I played the Kanstul BBb tuba at the Army conference, and I thought it was pretty good. But it didn't seem to me as open as it ought to have for a tuba its size. It has some interesting features, though, and the construction quality was good. It's targeting a current gap in the market, though, which is the large 4/4-5/4 BBb piston tuba. There's the Miraphone 1291 with a gigantic price tag right now, and the next smaller front-action piston tuba current avaialable is the King 2341, which is on the small side of 4/4. The B&S PT2/VMI 3301 fits in the middle. The Kanstul is closer to the Miraphone in size. It's no match for the Miraphone, but then it's much, much less expensive, too. It's good to see another contender, and also good that someone on these shores is trying to take advantage of the weak dollar by bringing some production back here.
