playing a helicon as an upright

Post by ken k »

I always said, "I wish I could find an upright horn that plays as well as my helicon."

Does this count?

I do that with my sousaphone sometimes (on long seated gigs) with a rotation of the bell it is quite balanced, with the weight on my leg instead of my shoulder.

I tried this, it was OK but a bit awkward. Judging by this and your other post, you must be going through a "how to play tuba unconventionally phase…"
