Governments and their military seem to think that their bands should be the first thing to cut. Shame they don't get rid of a few useless politicians instead.

My relation to that band is a bit indirect. Our late Swedish member Sven Bring’s brother was an officer in the Swedish navy. We echanged a CD of the band for a DVD of our royal guard band.

Cost cutting is why three professional bands that I played in (Baltimore Municipal Band, Baltimore Park Band and the Miami Park Band) no longer exist, even though there were many people that would come to the concerts. It is my opinion that it is important to show support for our fellow musicians when we can. I signed and so did another member of my tuba section.

be arbitrarially decommissioned.

Sweden is a wealthy country with a very high tax rate. It sounds to me that it's more that they don't WANT to afford the band, not that they CAN'T afford it. I'm not sure what good petitions do in Sweden (or what good international votes do for it), but I hope it can at least give some form of evidence that people DO care about the band.

I hope the band can play on for another 400 years!

The band was in a similar situation in 2008, where our late Swedish member Sven Bring asked me to support a similar petition. That lead to the band supporters contacting me last month, as they apparently find our support important.

Marinens Musikkår och Marinens Musikkårs Vänner vill rikta ett stort tack till alla som hjälpt oss i kampen för att bevara Marinens Musikkår.

I regeringsbeslut daterat den 19 december 2014 skriver försvarsministern följande i regleringbrevet för Försvarsmakten:

Försvarsmakten ska bedriva försvarsmusikverksamhet med i allt väsentligt samma inriktning och omfattning som idag.

Vi är givetvis mycket glada och stolta över allt stöd vi fått av alla som skrivit på bevarammk.se. Stödet har varit en av de viktigaste pusselbitarna i vår opinionsbildning och när protestlistan igår stängdes hade vi kommit upp i 41699 namnunderskrifter.

THE ROYAL SWEDISH NAVY BAND IS SAVED!

The Royal Swedish Navy Band and The Friends of The Royal Swedish Navy Band are very greateful to all of you who helped in the fight to preserve us.

In a government order containing the appropriation for The Armed Forces dated December 19th 2014 the Minister of Defence declares:

The Armed Forces will conduct the demands of musical services with essentially the same focus and scope as today.

We are obviously very pleased and proud of all the support we have received through our website bevarammk.se. The support has been one of the most important contributions in our advocacy. When the petition closed yesterday we counted 41,699 signatures!
