What is like a Miraphone Rose Model Orchestra (TU25)

Post by Michael Bush »

...and comes with a larger shank? Is there a Perantucci or a Blokepiece (or???) that has a similar cup, but a larger shank? I've tried figuring this out for myself, but I've missed so far.

Are either of those "Parker" cups like a Helleberg 120...??

Do Dave's M.O.-C4LA rims fit the Parker cups...??

Is the Parker line available with euro shank exteriors...??

no...There is no Sellmansberger cup that very closely resembles any stock Helleberg cups (as does the Miraphone Rose Orchestra cup).

You COULD, though, try a Sellmansberger "Orchestra Grand" cup with a Sellmansberger "W-M" rim (pro'lly the 32.6 version) and a Sellmansberger "Symphony" euro shank.

You know where I am, if you want to try it...
Interesting idea. I thought the Orchestra Grand cup was a good bit deeper? I guess not; obviously you would know.

First of all, Look here: http://www.dwerden.com/Mouthpieces/tuba ... pare=32.70 A Giddings and Webster Williwaw will be about the same and is available in a Euro shank. A Josef Klier T4B might also be about the same and their shanks are larger than American shanks. The URL cited is a really easy way to compare mouthpiece dimensions but you'll have to try them to see if it is what you want for your horn. Giddings and Webster will let you return a mouthpiece if it doesn't work but a call to Ivan at G-W is a good way to ask a question about what else they may have that would work.
Always make a good sound; audiences will forget if you miss a note but making a good sound will get you the next job.

Unfortunately, trying to draw conclusions from that chart is what didn't work so well for me. No doubt that is me, not the chart.

Maybe the best thing is to keep bumbling along with the TU25 (even though the shank goes most of the way into the receiver, maybe 1/2" is outside) until ITEC, and just try some things there. Are you going to exhibit at ITEC, Bloke?

If this gives any credence to my comments...

There is a Miraphone Rose Orchestra sitting right here for me to examine before I post comments.

Bloke, you are far beyond having to give credence to your comments. I don't doubt you for a moment. I doubt myself.
