CSO Brass 1954 Beethoven Quartet Question

Listening to that great recording of Bud Herseth, Renold Schilke, Hugh Cowden, Frank Crisafulli and Arnold Jacobs I'm blown away every time by the quality of ensemble.

So, does anyone know what horn Mr Jacobs is on??
If it's the York I may eat my shoes...

The CSO Brass Quintet had their affiliation with Holton after 1954. It was the York!
Don't forget to take off the shoe laces before eating the rest of the shoe.

Where can I find a copy of the recording? I heard there's nowhere to get it except through people who already have a copy.

I'm sure Brian Frederiksen at Windsong press would be happy to sell you a copy of the CD Legacy of an Artist which includes the above mentioned recording.

I don't know of any published source for the brass quintet arrangement. The string 4tet is available on IMSLP. Maybe somebody will get ambitious and do a new arrangement.

I remember hearing this live in 1966 on a program including the Ewald #1 and Malcolm Arnold. The Beethoven was THE standout. Players of other instruments who used to say Jake wasn't so great as some claimed went away totally astounded.
