Christmas came early!

Post by Tubajug »

My wife is awesome...I'm just saying. Last night we had a date night. Her mom took our kids out Christmas shopping so we could go out to dinner. As we're sitting at the table waiting for our food, my wife pulls out a little present for me (I'm feeling like a jerk because I haven't bought her present yet...). Inside are two tickets to see the Canadian Brass who were in town last night!

Needless to say I was completely surprised/excited/etc because...I found out they were coming to town back in September, but with talking to my wife, she said we wouldn't be able to go because of money, and that we would go the next time they were in town. Well, she played that up for the last few months, and I agreed with her. Being a teacher with three kids, money isn't plentiful and we've learned to go without things here and there, so I had accepted the fact that I would go next time (they come to Lincoln every few years).

It turns out that she had bought the tickets all the way back in August and had been planning this thing the whole time! So honestly, when I first opened the box and saw the tickets I thought, "ooh...you're sneaky and little bit mean..." :)

So we went to the concert, the Brass were fabulous of course. It's great to still see Chuck get down on the ground for Frosty, dress as a bull for Carmen, etc. This was the first time I'd seen this new group. The last time I saw them was quite a few years ago now.

They stayed around after for autographs and pictures. My wife let me buy a CD for them to sign and I got pictures with all of them. So... needless to say it was a wonderful Christmas gift and a complete surprise from my wonderful, amazing, obsession-supporting wife!

Here are the photos we took. Merry Christmas TubeNet!

Many members of the TNFJ have wives who understand our passion, or at least permit it. Thanks for sharing this.

That's an amazing story, Jordan. Little did I realize what had transpired when we briefly said hello at the pre-concert lecture. The Canadian Brass were awesome, but I think your wife's gift was even more so. (BTW, your little Eb that I got to see at Capitol Tuba Christmas is looking good. Nice job with that, too.) Happy Holidays!
