I love the looks of the 191, solid and compact. Although that Interlochen Sousaphone is awfully nice, as is bloke's pimp-o-phone.

I got to play on a rotary King at Dan's place when I stopped by over the summer. It had a detachable bell, so I don't know if it was the same model as pictured here, but it was a lot of fun! Cool horns!

I think the 1291-2-3's are really nice looking horns.

For F tuba, maybe one of the Meinl Horns. Or my 822 haha!

I find the proportions of the MW32 to be one of the most visually aesthetically pleasing tubas ever made. It was clearly designed and built by people that cared about making a tuba beautiful. Every time I see one in person a part of me wants to own it just to look at. It doesn't hurt that they can produce one of the most unique and truly pretty sounds of any contrabass tuba.

I've had the pleasure of playing this particular horn. Not only is it gorgeous, but it has not one, but TWO naked ladies engraved on it lol

Such a sweet, sweet tuba.

Somewhere in Powell Hall ( Where the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra presides ) is an old b&w photo of TWO old giant tubas being put to full effect with a full orchestra. They really look like Rudy Meinl 5/4's to me. It's an awesome photo but I never was able to get confirmation on the instruments or when the photo was taken or anything whatsoever. Man those horns certainly looked wonderfully awesome in the photo though. It looks as if there could be no questioning of what was going on, these bad boys were putting an etheral foundation down!

Just going by pure looks, forgetting everything about sound, projection, playing characteristics etc. I'd go with the Miraphone 188. Really great lines, bell flair etc. However if I factor in playing characteristics which in this case would muddle things up quite a bit when you are trying to look at design alone, my vote goes towards Rudolph Meinls, big Rudies.

Having played two different Holton 345s this week, I agree that there is a certain visual appeal to the horns - in particular, the bottom bow's diameter is as wide as the final bow (pre-throat) of other 6/4 tubas. This is one of the elements that make it so inviting to pick up, hold, and play one of these heavy teddy bears!

That is useful to be able to adjust mouthpiece height with the bits as on that Martin, but how does it effect how it plays?
