Gronitz PE55 Eb Tuba?

Post by Fred »

Has anyone owned or played one of the PE55's? I have yet to find one at a conference in order to try it. It looks more York-like than any of the other Eb's. It looks interesting.

II played one...very quickly, and it really played nice. Great sound, response, etc.. I didnt have the time to get into intonation, but it felt pretty darn good to me. If I would have had the $$$ I would own it right now.

They are pretty rare, but if you do a search on it everyone who has played/owned seems to like them .

Anyone know how they compare to the Willson 3400? According to the specs (after subracting about 0.05 from the Willson specs to get inside diameter), the Gronitz has the same size bell, but larger bore . . . .

I too am curious about the Gronitz Eb's, was just talking about it the other day.

I'd love to get my hands on one to try out, though the closest might be in NC...
