Eli Newberger's All Stars' steady gig!

Post by enewberger »

Starting On April 3, from 7:00 to 9:30, my band, Eli's All-Stars will be performing the first Thursday of every month at the Sherborn Inn, Main St., Sherborn, MA. There's a congenial jazz-loving crowd with lots of musicians, great food, and a modest $10.00 music charge.
Personnel:
Eli Newberger, tuba and leader
Jimmy Mazzy, banjo and vocals
Bob Winter (Berklee professor and Boston Pops pianist)
Bo Winiker, trumpet
Jeff Guthery, drums (Berklee College of Music)
Ted Casher, clarinet and saxes
Herb Gardner, trombone,
Rebecca Sullivan, vocals (New England Conservatory)

Here's a review of our February 2, 2014, performance, with great-sounding HD videos of "Chinatown My Chinatown" and "Them There Eyes," with curious tuba solos on my rebuilt Holton Del Negro tuba (handmade for Holton by York).

You da man, Randy! I can't thank you enough for selling me that wonderful York lo those many years ago. It was the occasion for a lovely evening of celebration when we donated it to Berklee, and when Tom Treece and Bob Carpenter did the analysis of Walter Sear's Holton Del Negro and dkscerned that it was actually built by York, I thought kindly of it, and of you.

If you wish, you can watch and listen to my 2 previous Del Negro horns in action on my YouTube page that contains lots of Black Eagle and small ensemble recordings.
