Instrument rental in Germany

Post by AHynds »

Hello, one and all

I will be flying to Darmstadt later this summer to attend the International Summer Course for New Music, and I am currently having a terrible time trying to get an instrument over there for the course. My question for everyone here is, do any of you know where I could rent a tuba while in Germany? It'd be great if there was a place either in Frankfurt or nearby, but at this point, I'd even be willing to fly to a different city in southern Germany and take the train over, if that is an option. I'll be looking for either an F or Eb tuba, although I figure the F tuba will be easier to find, given the country I'm heading to. I'm a little hesitant to borrow a horn from someone personally--I'd hate to be responsible if someone's personal horn was damaged or stolen on my watch. I sent an email to Alexander, in nearby Mainz, but I haven't heard back from them yet.

Thanks, and any info would be greatly appreciated!

Also for anyone else, there is a super awesome beer store in Darmstadt. That store is worth a visit alone.
