Matthew Garbutt from the San Diego Symphony is there. Brent Dutton is at SDSU. http://www.musicdance.sdsu.edu/. Both great players.

Player-wise, in L.A. there's Norm Pearson (LAPO), Tommy Johnson, Jim Self, John Van Houten, Fred Greene, Doug Tornquist, Steve Klein.
Shop-wise, a cat I went to Cal State Long Beach with back in the late 80s has great shop in Long Beach - Don Sawday (http://www.snhmusic.com).
