Roger Bobo
Does anybody know whether or not Roger Bobo is still playing? I heard one rumor that he has FD and another that he sold all his instruments. I seriously hope that neither of those things are true. I don't know what to make of it, but I think he's been teaching in Japan for the last few years.

Re: Roger Bobo
This should help - Here's a link to his blog: http://bomaestro.blogspot.com/
He's not a frequent blogger, but it's a good read.

I never said it was information. I said it was a rumor I heard. That's why I asked about it. Anyway, could I have details about this recital?Porky wrote:Where are you getting your info from he just played a recital less then a week ago.

Actually there was an interview on a British show where she asked him if he played anymore and he had said he didn't but that was either last year or year before. But he never elaborated more than that.

Re: Roger Bobo
All right. So I looked on his blog here http://bomaestro.blogspot.com/2013/11/r ... nt-no.html" target="_blank?
And he says "since I stopped playing" and then elaborates on how he has continued to develop his musicality through teaching. This is from November of 2013. But yes, I too would be interested in any recent videos of said recitals. I'm not trying to defame him. It's his life, and if he's done with playing, no one else can tell him otherwise.

Re: Roger Bobo
By this point in time, I would imagine that Bobo has said all he needs to say with the tuba. I assume he still plays for his leisure and, when the opportunity presents itself, the leisure of others, but Bobo has been primarily a conductor and instructor for quite some time now.

Re: Roger Bobo
Roger Bobo stopped playing publicly in May 2001. His last recital in the US was in Jan 2000. He still plays in lessons but rarely does that happen these days. His recordings stand as a testament of his sheer mastery of not only the tuba, but also of music.
