Re: Favorite 'Tubby the Tuba' recording? Why?
I remember the one on the Peter Pan label.
A good one (I don't have a favorite) is Chester Schmitz and the Boston Pops with Julia Child, in her unique voice, introducing "Señor Fiedlerissimo!"

I played this a few years back with the Wheaton Municipal Band. That would be my favorite.

I like the Manhatten Transfer's version, with three extra episodes that are much stranger than the well known first story.
There is also a fake version that I found by the (so called) Happy Times Record Band - it is a song about "Tubby the Tuba," not the actual composition and dialogue. Clever way to try avoiding license fees! This is the single version, the copy I have is on an album.

I second this one - Julia was a remarkable narrator, and the solo work is great.
