Thought everyone would like to see the 88" tall 2 lead pipe Joe Tarto/Big Joe Tuba/Lopezophone at the factory with HN White himself at his factory where these horns were made...great content...only a handful are known...in BBb with 3 valves and a change valve for using one lead pipe while sitting or another lead pipe while standing. Neat!

The original Tartophone is in NYC area still, owned by a close friend of Joe's, who is a quite active musician. I'll ask him about the playing characteristics of Big Joe.

I could be mistaken but Allan Jaffe (Preservation Hall) had one of these. I seem to remember it having the two leadpipes. We were, of course, drinking bourbon at the time but he let me play it and it was remarkably easy to play and made a nice "King tuba" sound. I now own a four valve "Monster" rotary King and Alan's horn played very similar to it. Not just a novelty. I'm sure it's still there. Ed
