Lehman mouthpieces
So who's playing their euph on a Lehman? I just started on a Lehman S and it's a beaut!

Re: Lehman mouthpieces
Considering you posted an ad for one about 4 and a half hours ago, that must have been a fast reply.
I've been wanting one for quite some time, but they're not readily available, and Houser hasn't started the new production that was announced a couple years ago.

Re: Lehman mouthpieces
I have used a very old Lehman 1M (made by Robert Pollansch) for many, many years. Unfortunately, I no longer have a euphonium, but that's beside the point.

Re: Lehman mouthpieces
Yes, there's a bit of a story behind that. I'm borrowing my teacher's while I buy one.
The mouthpiece I have is rather special. It was a cast Glenn took of Art's mouthpiece and sent to Dave Houser for production. Apparently there are many Lehman mouthpieces and not all are equal. If you compare this mouthpiece to what's in Art's book you'll find errors in the book. Dave has the real deal.
It doesn't have magical powers unfortunately. At first it felt like playing with a margarita glass strapped to my head. A week later I really started to appreciate it when Glenn worked through some exercises with me and suddenly it all just became clear. I suspect most of that is Glenn not the mouthpiece - sometimes one word from him and a quick demo is all it takes.
I am pleading for Dave to make me one ....

Re: Lehman mouthpieces
I've asked Dave (and bloke for that matter) about acquiring a Lehman several times. Perhaps if we can get a few more people he'd find it financially feasible to produce a small batch (possibly in stainless steel?).
EDIT: While I'm at it, what exactly are the differences between the different letter designations?

I play a Lehman Large, made for me by Pallansch in 1977. Made with a screw rim, optional plastic rim for outside work. Also have as a spare a Lehman large made for me by Dave Houser in the late 90's.

Re: Lehman mouthpieces
I might as well jump in here.
I believe I have the only true originals of the Lehman Specials.
I've been playing the Medium cup since I started studying with Arthur in1969.
During a lesson in the mid seventies Arthur mentioned that he had developed a shallower version and a deeper version which he thought were unusable.
I talked him into allowing me to reproduce these, thus making the 3 different cup sizes shallow, medium, and the one he himself used, what we call medium. medium.
