The ö sound (written oe if you can't get the dots on the o) doesn't exist in English, so it's very hard to explain. You would say /bome/ if the dots weren't there.

While visiting my brother-in-law recently he explained it similarly. He said to pronounce the ö you should pucker you lips like you were going to speak and O, but make an E sound instead.
