Tuba Books on Amazon

Post by Zoop Soup »

I've got an amazon card for $25 and I'd like to buy some tuba exercise books. I'm a sophomore in HS (age 15). I'm the best in the school, just to give an estimate of my skill level.

I've been playing for two years. I've recently been focusing on working on my tone (switching from sax had some negative effects on my mindset towards embouchure) as well as strengthening my high register for my school jazz band.

Any suggestions?

To expand, I currently own "First Book of Practical Studies for Tuba" and I can play most of the exercises in it with moderate ease.

They look good, have either of you guys used them? Could you give a brief review for me?

As for the Tyrell, I don't really have anything to add to the three-page thread I linked.

The fink is a standard book for trombone players. It's kinda like an introduction to bordogni. The exercises are all selected from vocal studies by various composer so they let you work on melodic stuff. Generally the range isn't too crazy as the book serves for both bass trombone and tuba.

Could you give me a little more information on it? Based on what I said I was looking for in my OP
