Hi-
This is a REAL bad year for bees and hornets. Had a yellow jacket nest on the overhang above my side door--nothing worked--had to call in the 'pros.' All good now. The exterminator said the bees are very resilient and nasty this year...worst he has seen in all his years..
Good luck!!

consult an exterminator who specializes in this kind of pest. I manage a property where extremely aggressive European Hornets made a nest in the box bay in the cavity under a window and they were accessing it from a crack on the deck. It was impossible to get to it w/o destroying the window and the bay under it. The exterminator sprayed a powdery substance into it once a day for 3 successive days and killed them all. It cost a little, but all occupants, including the queen, were killed. Only an exterminator can dispense chemicals at this strength; the diluted stuff I used on them just made 'em mad!

You may well be right, but I was told by the exterminator, who is also a friend, that it is a controlled product in the form he applies it. Normally, I'd dismiss this as driving up the price, but he is pretty straight with me. Either way, it worked like a charm.bloke wrote:It's this powder. You can buy it on eBay. You'll want one of these to blow it into holes and cracks:

It can also be mixed with water and sprayed that way.

I've used this version for the past three years as Demon WP has gradually increased in price. The Cyper WP is quite good and almost as long lasting as the Demon (I get about 75 days of protection in the house and garage with it when I use it wet). It even has knock-down capability, although that is not recommended. Once it dries, it's waterproof. I've used this on my driveway against pharaoh ants which have now become a problem (some folks call them sugar ants). Also used it on hardy hibiscus to control white-fly. This stuff is readily available (legally) to homeowners in the 40% Cypermethrin formula. I bought mine on eBay. It works.
