Post by scottw »

If you haven't had an opportunity to see their show live, do it! I saw them last year when they were in our area and it was simply sensational. Here is the 2015 US tour. I already have tickets for Wilmington, De.! I expect you should get in early for tickets as they usually sell out fast.
24.02.2015 - Athens, GA
25.02.2015 - Atlanta, GA
26.02.2015 - Birmingham
27.02.2015 - Frederick
28.02.2015 - Shippensburg, PA
01.03.2015 - Wilmington, DE
04.03.2015 - Kingsville, TX
05.03.2015 - San Antonio, TX
06.03.2015 - Houston, TX

Thanks for the heads up. I just bought two tickets for the UGA performance.

These days, I'll drive to Athens before Woodruff Arts Center gets any of my $.
Athens is closer for me, so your point never occurred to me. But now that you raise it, I wonder who here could get to them to suggest that they not play this gig, or move it to another venue?

The Woodruff Arts Center is the overall management entity that encompasses among other groups, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. They have played accounting games with the allocation of expenses and revenues to make the symphony look bad in comparison with their other entities, like the High Museum, for example, in order to manipulate concessions out of the musicians, after having promised two years ago that this would not happen. They have now locked the musicians out.

Ah! Then a trip to Athens is certainly in order. A sad state of affairs. :(

I sent a email yesterday inquiring about their intentions with regard to Atlanta in light of the lockout, and got this back from their American booking agent a few minutes ago:
We are monitoring the situation in Atlanta very closely. The Mnozil Brass performance is quite some time from now, and we all hope that the administration and musicians can come to an agreement well before March 2015. In the mean time, I thank you for your support of the group and look forward to seeing you in Athens.

You will surely get an official reprieve from the tubenet grammar police because the intent of your email was so lofty as to excuse minor grammatical errors.

The USA dates have disappeared from their website.

I sent them an email asking for more info... hopefully they are making some adjustments before re-listing.

I would love to see them come to the midwest...I think the Texas shows are probably the closest...I'll just have to be content with DVDs....

What an interesting route across the country. That would be a strange road trip for most Americans, let alone a bunch of Austrians/Eastern Europeans. I realize it's a money trail (follow who pays your booking fees), but still... :tuba:

The US dates are back up on the web site. Their manager replied very quickly to an email inquiry, and she said that there were problems with their Web server that made several tour dates here and abroad disappear temporarily.

Ticket presales are open in Athens and Birmingham. There is not as yet a listing for MB at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta's online site.

Regarding their route, they have a 2-week break from their European tour, 3 days in Georgia and Alabama, 3 dates in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, a couple of days off, 3 dates in Texas, a 12-day break, and then back to the European tour. It's not such a terrible itinerary. Their previous North American tours have often tended to clump rather than be widespread.

Cool... no, it's certainly not a terrible itinerary, just saying... I'd imagine that most other Austrians wouldn't visit many (or any?) of those places on a visit to the US. (I completely understand why, just saying!)
