American Symphony Orchestra promo photo question

Post by bort »

I ran across this photo today (which unfortunately has nothing to do with the concert -- no tuba solo)

http://fishercenter.bard.edu/calendar/e ... =%20126538" target="_blank

I'm assuming this is Mr. Windowmaker...? Derek, if you see this... what's the story with the bell on your tuba? How did it get pancaked and you still performed on it?

Anyway, just something I stumbled upon on a slow Tuesday morning. :tuba:

Actually, I can field this question. That promo photo is my former student at Bard College, Peter Blaga. This photo is from his solo performance with American Symphony Orch. following his winning Bard's Concerto Competition. That tuba...was on loan from his undergraduate school in Hungary. He owns a different F tuba now...but needless to say that pancake dent is thanks to the airlines :-/
Derek Fenstermacher

I own tubas.

Cool, thanks! Either way... bummer that they used a tuba promo picture for a non-tuba concert!

As they say..."Any publicity is good publicity, as long as they spell your name right!"

I personally get tired of seeing classical music concerts advertised, with pictures of violins, and pianos.

It's good to see a publicity shot featuring a tuba!

I agree, just a moment of disappointment for seeing it wasn't a tuba solo performance (which apparently, did exist, and I missed it).

Whoops!

As luck would have it, I was actually there for that performance!

He did a great job!

Cool!

I've been wanting to see that concert hall for years, I should probably get on that! :tuba:
